Oh, Happy Days!

I just had to let everyone know that I finally, after months of tossing and turning, slept through the night last night! I did not get up one time! It's a mini-miracle. We went to sleep a little early last night and then I woke up this morning feeling better than I have in a long time... so much more energy. I am not much of a morning person anyhow, but I felt like doing a happy dance in the living room. Gary was watching, so I resisted. :) Hope everyone has a great day!

It's Raining!

First, I am sorry I haven't blogged in a while. Things have been so hectic around our house! We have been keeping super busy with baby things, school, work and doctor's appointments. Plus, I have started not to sleep well, so any free time I have is usually devoted to trying to take naps! Although, for anyone interested, Suzi Orman is on between 4 AM and 5 AM on CNN. My insomnia has gained us some very useful financial advice.

Well, this was a big weekend for us. And I want to start off by saying that Gary and I are both very overwhelmed by the generosity everyone has shown us. We have wonderful family and friends... I know that our little boy will be well-loved and will grow up in a supportive, caring environment. It is very much appreciated.

My mom threw us a shower on Saturday. It was at the cutest little tea room in Tomball. The food was excellent and I just love tea rooms! :) We came home with home made blankets, clothes, bottles, diapers and so much more. My family put together a puzzle of an old-fashioned tea room and had it framed with their signatures. It is a very special piece that we can't wait to put up!

Afterwards, we went to Gary's parents house because we had some out of town visitors! Mamaw, Aunt Dolly and Uncle Robert all came in just for our church shower! It was so nice to see them and we had a wonderful family meal. :)

Sunday we had the church shower. Again, we had just a wonderful time. All the gifts were displayed as I walked in and it was such a neat affect. I just have to say I am going to have the best dressed little boy on the planet! Erica put a lot of thought into the shower... six different kinds of brownies! Need I say more! :)

I have plenty of pictures to post; however, since I can't remember a thing these days, I left it at home. The only pictures I have are the ones Erica sent to me (can you tell she keeps track of me and makes sure I am doing what I am supposed to be doing?), so I'll start with these and then post some more a little later (assuming I remember).

Melissa was the winner of the blind-folded diaper challenge! Congratulations!

Me and all the wonderful hostesses from church. Thanks so much, ladies!

WHAT!?

I found my first stretch marks yesterday. Sad, I know, but I guess it was inevitable. I've been getting so big, so quickly here lately, it was bound to happen.
I just don't remember Gumby having these issues. Where's good clay animation when you need it?

Extreme Home Makeover

For the last two weekends, we have been working on getting Grant's room ready for his arrival. Gary's family came over two weekends ago and we started the process of painting the room. After lots of thought, we finally got the right khaki color for on the top half of the walls. We also painted the beadboard the perfect shade of blue... All that was left to do was install the beadboard and chair rail. My fam came over this weekend and worked on that. It took Dad, Michael and Gary about 8 hours to get everything done, but it looks great! :) Take a look at some of our before and after pics:

This used to be my craft room/guest room. While it was cute, we hadn't done much to change the overall look of the room.

Michael and Gary teamed up on cutting and measuring our chair rail.

Dad was our professional installer. Look how good the beadboard looks!

Mom and Dad also bought us Grant's crib! I LOVE IT! It is the perfect shade of red and looks so good against the blue. Gary must really love me, because we put it together during the Super Bowl. Granted we really only missed half time and a little bit of the third quarter, but still... talk about sacrifice! :) We still need to do some caulking and we need to paint the chair rail white, but other than that, it's lookin' good! I'll post more pics as we get more done.
