Double Stroller

Well, it's official. I've entered the land of the double stroller. Actually, it's a sit-n-stand. So maybe we can categorize that as a stroller and a half. I was worried that we might not ever get to use this because Grayson is so at home in the baby bjorn. He is attached to me wherever we go. And Grant is not much of a stroller kid. But this stroller is great. We used it for the first time at a MOMS Club event (what else?). Since Grayson was in his car seat, my range of motion was restored! And Grant had the perfect cross between adventure and comfort. He would just jump on and off as he pleased! Perfect!

Saturday Mornings

Five Months

Grayson turned five months old this week. We're going through a growth spurt at the moment. Which translates into multiple middle-of-the-night feedings. This has taken some adjustment on my part because Grayson has been sleeping through the night for some time now. When he's hungry now, he pants like a dog. I'm not kidding. It cracks me up every time. Regardless of anything that ever happens, my boys can make me laugh. And I love them for it!

Five months. Oh, what a face! I can't resist this little boy. His smell is intoxicating, his smile is infectious and those eyes!!! Which, by the way, are very slowly turning brown. It's the neatest thing to watch. Ok, this is my first glimpse of him becoming a trouble maker! What a look!

Grayson's First Taste of Food

Dr. Q told us to wait at least until five months to start solid foods with Grayson. He probably would have liked it better if we waited even longer, but Grayson was ready! He keeps watching us very intently while we're eating and he's started to lick his lips when he sees food, so...

We tried some rice cereal mixed with applesauce (I could never stand giving my kids JUST rice cereal... no flavor). First day didn't go so well. He didn't seem to like it and he couldn't figure out how to swallow it, so I thought we would just wait another week or two. "Seriously, dad? You want me to eat this stuff?"

However, I awoke the next morning in the mood to try again, so I gave him some more applesauce. He ate it up! Grayson ate one jar on Wednesday and another whole jar on Thursday. So, it's official... he likes applesauce AND I am going to start making my own baby food again. With Grant, I only attempted a few fruits and veggies, but I think this time I want to experiment! Grayson is going to try all kinds of new things and I can't wait!!!

Baby (Craft) Makin'

I've been in a crafty mood lately. I just love making baby stuff. I wanted to celebrate Austin's arrival by making him a little shirt. I just bought a white onesie and made my own owl applique. I thought it turned out pretty cute.

Grayson got to model the final product. It was super easy and took no time at all. I wanted to stitch 'night owl' on it, but you'd be surprised how little room there is on a 0-3 month onesie! Next, I took on making my very first piece of clothing ever for Sadie's first birthday. I started with a pattern, but it wasn't working out the way I wanted it. So I also ended up making my very first pattern ever.

The dress is intended to grow with little Miss Sadie. That's why I added the adjustable ribbon sleeves. Erica will have to let me know how that turns out! I have to say I was pretty proud of myself for making this... even though the seam ripper was my best friend for a couple of weeks.

Cookie Monster

We headed over to Christian and Charlie's last week for storytime. The kiddos all decorated cookies, then listened to If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Cookies. Both were incredibly cute books and Grant had lots of fun decorating...

"Babe Slee"

Yes, Grant. The baby is sleeping. Grant knows when Grayson has gone "night-night." And he does a fairly good job of being quiet while he's asleep. But his favorite part of Grayson's nap is getting to wake him up! Well, he doesn't actually wake him up. But when I hear Grayson start to stir, I ask Grant if he wants to help me wake up the baby.

I grab him and put him in the crib. The boys play for a few minutes while I tidy up Grayson's room. It's a great routine.

They can't be bothered with smiling for the camera... it's too early! Grant giving Grayson a good morning kiss. Apparently, Grayson is going for the open-mouthed version.

Showoff

Oh, Grayson! I don't remember when Grant first did these things, but I have been saying since Grayson was born that I didn't think he was as strong as Grant. I think he is tired of me saying that because now he is starting to show off...

Seriously? Standing? He is still wobbly at times (and he's too short to see over the couch), so I was nervous that he would fall... but he never did! I don't think Grant ever held a bottle by himself (at least not for long). This is one of my favorites because it gives me a break from sitting on the couch and nursing. Grayson has also shown interest in sitting up, flying (he flaps his arms like he is about to take off), and long walks on the beach. What a great kid!
