Spaghetti Lunch

Gary made a nice lunch for us today. Grant could really only have the spaghetti noddles. So, I chopped them up and spread out some lunch for our son. He went to town! I think we can officially say that he will eat spaghetti.

The fork didn't really help much, but loves to hold it. I think more ended up on his lap than his mouth!

In other news, Grant has started to develop a will. He no longer likes diaper changes. In fact, he hates them. He now cries through it and constantly tries to get away. It is so odd how something can go from being his favorite thing in the world to the bane of his existence. He pushes my hands away when I try to clean his "leaky" eye. Oh, and he has started playing with the night lights we have in the house. I am worried about him electrocuting himself, so I pat his hand and say, "NO!" as firmly as I can. He looks at me... and LAUGHS! No joke!

Turkey Day...Without the Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Grant started his first Thanksgiving by sleeping in till 8:00 AM! I woke up at 7:15 and kept thinking, "Is he OK? What's wrong? When will he wake up?" I checked on him several times. I guess he just wanted to sleep in! We will defintitely take more of this. What are the chances he'll repeat this again tomorrow?!

We packed up and made the 20 minute drive to Tippi and PawPaw's. Bibby and John joined us for a wonderful Thanksgiving lunch sans turkey. Most of us prefer chicken to turkey, so that has become a Scogin family tradition. After lunch we played Bingo and Farkle (a dice game). Grant was mesmerized by the dice. Maybe we should take him to Vegas! :) All in all, we had a great time.

Grant apparently wants to "be like Mike." For you non-basketball lovers out there, that would be Michael Jordan! He has this new habit of just hanging his tongue outside his mouth. Hummm...

He just finished eating his very own turkey dinner, which he managed to smear all over his very own turkey shirt.

Dewberry Farm

Oh my goodness... We found the best place on earth! We took the short drive to Dewberry Farm this morning. They had pig races, duck races, sand pits, hay mountains, jumping pillows, zip lines, a corn maze, pumpkin patch and yummy barbecue! We had so much fun! We've actually had a great start to our T-day week. Yesterday, Grant and I went to my dad's office for lunch and got to eat lunch with him and the accounting department. Plus, we got to see some old friends at the office. Then we met up with mom and Robin for a short visit. Afterwards, Erica and I went shopping for maternity clothes and bought a shirt for her little... um, baby. Beau, Elijah and Erica also came over for dinner last night. We have had just the best time over the last couple of days! I hope everyone else is enjoying their weekend, too!

Dewberry Farm has a "Little Farmerville" just for little tykes like Grant. He loved the sand pit. They also had little tricycles that kiddos could ride down a small hill. It was so cute!

Tell Me More

Grant always elicits comments about how cute he is. Everyone at church loves him, Gary's co-workers think he's the cutest thing and perfect strangers comment on how adorable he is. A mom could get used to this. Anyhow, here are a few comments made about Grant in the last few days: Man: "Oh, look how beautiful she is!" Me: "Actually, this is a little boy." Man: " He is WAY too pretty to be a little boy." __________________________________ Girl: "He looks like the Gerber baby! How cute!" Me: "Thanks!" Girl: "Does he model? He should be in magazines." _________________________________ Lady: "He has the most perfectly shaped head."

Elijah and Grant

Elijah has been over at our house the last couple of days. Grant *loves* Elijah. When he sees him, he tries to leap out of your arms. He laughs at everything Elijah says (really) and he so wants to be able to chase after him and do the things that Elijah can do. Elijah loves Grant, too... from a distance. He thinks he's great until he starts to get close. Apparently, my son is a bully (he likes to pull Elijah's hair). When Grant gets near, Elijah says, "Grant gets you." Anyhow, they have had some fun moments together over the last couple of days. I captured a few of them on film... Elijah pushing Grant in the swing. Grant would have returned the favor, but he was just a little too short to reach the swing!

Watching the cars pass by on the street. We are having road work done on our street, so they got to see lots of fun construction vehicles!

Elijah wanted to sit in my lap. Grant wanted to be wherever Elijah was. And I had the camera handy. Too bad I'm the only one smiling!

Uncle Greg and Aunt Jen

Greg and Jen came into town this past weekend. We went over to Tippi and PawPaw's house early on Saturday for a yummy brunch and to visit. Grant managed to sleep the day away in Jen's arms. And when he was awake, Greg and Jen had a great time playing with our boy. I think Grant had just as much fun as they did. Bibby and John stopped by later that afternoon and we all watched a slide show of Tippi and PawPaw's trip to Israel and Egypt. It was so neat to see all the wonderful places they visited. Jen and I now wear a beautiful Jerusalem cross and Grant plays with his camel! We're so happy to have them back! After our slide show, we celebrated John and Greg's birthdays! John finally got his carrot cake and I have to say, it was yummy!

Grant had so many new things to get into at Tippi and PawPaw's house. He loved this basket full of toys.Jen had Grant squealing in delight! It was so cute! Unfortunately... ... this was the result. Just a little gift for Aunt Jen in the form of spit up!

I did manage to get a short video of Aunt Jen with her nephew. They both had too much fun!

A Future Payne Stewart

Our first really cold spell hit yesterday, so we dressed Grant appropriately. His Uncle Greg and Aunt Jen are in town, too... so he insisted on looking his best!

"Touchdown!"

Grant laughs at everything now. I put a stuffed animal in front of him the other day, and he just started rolling in laughter. Every night, Gary and I have "Laugh Night with Grant." We tickle him, we make funny faces, we scare him, we crawl around in circles... anything to keep him laughing. And it seems it will never end. That is my most favorite part of the day. It is just part of his personality. He is a charmer. And he loves to smile and I love him! His latest way to show excitement is to throw his hands in the air and grunt. He will do this over and over again. As Erica pointed out, it looks like he's calling a "touchdown" in a football game. Gary really likes that analogy. Go figure. Anyhow, a picture of my boy smiling... Oh, I just noticed this... If you look really closely, you can see his two bottom teeth.

You Put That Where?

Grant woke up from one of his naps today crying. If I give him his pacifier, he will usually fall back asleep. So I went into his room and searched for his pacifier. I couldn't find it in his crib anywhere. Sometimes he drops it on the floor, so I searched the floor... nothing. By this point, he was awake. I picked him up and we went outside to wait for Gary to come home. As we were sitting outside, I noticed that his diaper looked full. I opened one side to make sure he didn't have a poopy diaper and what did I find?! That's right... his pacifier! I am not even going to begin to guess how that got in there.

Oh, How I've Grown...

Grant is 7 months old today! He continues to amaze me in many different ways. Yesterday, for the first time, I peeked in on him and he was STANDING in his crib calling out for someone to rescue him! I get so excited when I see him doing new things... and this month was chalk full of new things. Top 10 things Grant learned in his seventh month of life: 1.) pull to standing 2.) reach for his mom or dad (or anyone else, for that matter) 3.) how to eat cheerios 4.) "walk" while holding on to mom or dad's fingers 5.) how to open the closet door 6.) the pincer grasp (not every time, but getting close) 7.) shake his head "no" (we thought something was wrong with him when he first started doing this, because it was not something that I was trying to teach him) 8.) how to roll over on his changing table, stick his diaperless rear end in the air and toot (it's true... I think it's his favorite new trick) 9.) pass a toy from one hand to the other 10.) drink from a sippy cup It seems like there is so much more. I can't believe how much he has learned over the last few weeks. Every day comes bearing a new surprise! Here's a video of my boy pulling to standing... I didn't catch the first part in the video, but it is all him. Trust me!

Election Day

Grant and I went to exercise our right to vote yesterday. I was worried about crowds, so I waited until after Grant's first nap. We pulled up to the local firestation at about 9:45. I didn't want to get caught in the morning crowd or in the lunch crowd, so I thought this would be the perfect time. I walked into the building and there was ONE person voting. When I left, I was the ONLY one there! Gary went after work (about 5:30), and I thought for sure it would be totally packed. He said there were two people in line when he got there. Talk about a mad rush! Anyhow, I took Grant with me. I thought there would be all these people waving American flags and giving each other high fives... what a great experience for Grant! No, none of that. One guy gave me a nail file with our Tax Assessor/Collector's name on it, but not quite the hoopla I was expecting. I gave Grant my "I Voted" sticker. This is the exact expression I had on my face when I was voting:

O, O... It's Magic!

We started eating Cheerios over a week ago! He LOVES them! We now take them wherever we go, and that is usually what he gets for a snack. He almost has the 'pincer grasp' perfected. I think it will take another week or two to get it just right, but I am so proud of my boy!

This picture makes me laugh... All I can think about are "Barker's Beauties!" You know, from The Price is Right! I don't think it is an indication of career choice, however.

Everytime he eats Cheerios, he gets one stuck to his chin. Again, he makes me laugh.

I'm Bringing Home a Baby Bumble Bee

A couple weeks ago, we took our "bumble bee" to have his six month pictures taken. I worked forever on this costume and we only got one picture of him with his wings on...

Our church had a "Trunk or Treat." The trunks of cars were decorated for Halloween and you could play games and pass out candy. Plus, they served frito pie. Yummmm.

Grant wanted to carry his basket all by himself. Most of the time it ended up in his mouth! Big surprise!

Oh, Barak and John made a personal appearance as well. One candidate gave me more candy then the other... that is how I will decide my vote this year!
