Fun With Breakfast and Playmates

I came across this book that has fun and unique ways to serve food to children. (Look 'N Cook) This morning I made Grant his very own Beary Toast.

Beary delicious! He wasn't quite sure what to make of a whole piece of toast. I usually cut it up for him. But he loved the addition of peanut butter! In other news, Grant and his friend, Michael, are signed up for the same Mother's Day Out program next semester. We had playgroup at the park this week and these two boys just loved following each other around! I know they will love getting to know each other better in MDO!

An Artist's Flair

Grant and I decided to do some finger painting yesterday. I gathered all the materials and we headed into the backyard. Grant really liked touching the paint, but didn't quite understand the concept of "painting." Maybe next time! :)

For the longest time, he would only put one finger in the paint. After a while, he added his hands and even his feet! Our medium. Non-toxic, WASHABLE paint. The artist...

I folded Grant's paintings, "framed" them and signed his name. We now have some unique cards to send to friends and family!

He's Feeling Better

Grant was sick all weekend, but he finally is returning to his old self. I couldn't resist taking a picture of my happy boy!

April Birthday Party

Every month our MOMS Club has a party for the birthday boys and girls. Carley and I hosted this month since our boys both turned one. We had more cupcakes, some snacks and lemonade at a local park. The kids all had a great time (and so did the moms)!

At Dr. Q's office this past week, Grant was introduced to a slide. We went down that slide probably 30 times while waiting on the doctor. Now, if he sees one, we have to go down it. Either he is sliding really fast in this picture, or the wind is blowing (look at his hair... didn't know he had that much, did ya?). I'll vote for the wind.Michael, the birthday boy! We just love Michael... he is such a sweet, loving boy. Doesn't he look cute with his hair slicked to the side? Grant loved the merry-go-round. I have to admit it made me a bit dizzy.

What are all those kids so interested in, you ask?

Ducks! Most of the kids did a great job feeding the ducks. Elijah was really into it. He kept chasing them, hoping they would eat out of his hand. Grant, however, just ate his bread. He didn't want the ducks taking his food!

Birthday Party - Year One

Well, Grant's First Birthday party was this past weekend. I chose a bug theme for his party... everything was in the shape of some sort of bug, right down to the cupcakes! We had a great time and was so glad that our family and Beau and Erica could come to help us celebrate. We have learned our lesson though... don't try throwing a birthday party the weekend of Easter. Most people can't come! :)

Bug Cupcakes (idea stolen from Martha Stewart). There were so many GREAT pictures of these two boys playing together. In the interest of saving time, I have only posted one. I am so glad that they get to spend time together and have each other to play with. John, Elijah and Bibby (on our new swing).

We sat and ate under the big tree (apparently, it's a Tallow) in the back yard. The weather held off just long enough for us to enjoy dinner and dessert.

Grant loved every gift he got! From clothes to swim suits to every kind of truck imaginable, he loved them all! Great big thank you to everyone who thought of our boy!

The song for this firetruck gets stuck in my head everyday. It's very catchy. And Grant loves to push the buttons.

Gary and I bought him a sand box for the backyard. It's a winner. Oma and Grandpa bought him the sand toys. We will be spending a lot of time outside this summer!

Uncle Mike and Aunt Robin

Robin and Michael came Friday night so that they could spend all day Saturday entertaining Grant. Gary and I needed to do so much around the house before the party. They saved the day! They took Grant to lunch, ran a few errands for me and then ended up at a park. I was so glad Grant got to spend some quality time with them!

Birthday Pictures

I have much to blog. Let's start with some of Grant's birthday pictures.

I thought this was such a cute idea. Elijah's turned out so well, I thought I would give it a whirl. That poor cake was put through the ringer before Grant even got a hold of it, but it worked. Mom says that I have a picture almost identical to this. He loves to push chairs, so this was a great way to get him to calm down.

This is the uncropped version of my favorite picture. You can actually see my arm in the bottom corner. I was that close for almost every picture. I just love this sweet face!
