A Trip to the Wild

We took another trip with MOMS Club to Bayou Wildlife Park. I didn't entirely think this trip through, though. I always think of it as such a neat, fun experience that I forgot how much Grayson is terrified of animals. And that the animals would be REALLY close. He lived on my hip until we got into the tram. And I was really envisioning him screaming through the whole ride, but he actually ended up doing really well.

Getting ready to feed the animals.

They look a little concerned, don't they???

"I don't know what you were so nervous about, mom. This is great!"

Grant has been begging me to see a zebra lately. And not just to see a zebra, but to see a zebra with Grace. Well, look out kiddo. I'm supermom... I make wishes come true! ha!

Last time we came was two years ago. Grant refused to ride the horse then, so I wasn't really expecting much this time. But he really wanted to try it! Yay!

A Day (or Two) at the Beach

Over Spring Break, we took the short drive down to Surfside for some beachside fun! The boys were in love!

Even though it was a Saturday AND St Patrick's Day, we had the whole beach to ourselves!

Grayson saw the Seagulls and started yelling, "Ducks! Ducks!" He insisted on walking over to them and then got so stinkin' mad when they flew away. Here, he's trying to convince them to come back down to his level. Not working!

My boys building sandcastles.

Seriously, the cutest kid that ever existed.

I need more water, Mom.

Fun in the sun!!! Funniest part of the whole trip was Grayson and the sand. That kid is the busiest kid I've ever known. He is always moving things from one place to another. He'll make the bed 20 times. If I ask him to set the table, that activity will keep him busy for 45 minutes. He is just very methodical and does things over and over again. Like I said, busy. When we got out all the sand toys, he picked up a shovel and started moving the beach over 15 feet. He'd take a shovelfull of sand, walk over a ways and put the sand down. He went back and forth for at least ten minutes. As if that spot just didn't have enough sand! He cracks me up!

Grass People: The Playdate

Over Spring Break, we got together with our friends Grace, Eva and Presley. I had talked to Jen and Mitzi about wanting to make egg creatures with grass hair. Jen had all the supplies, so it made the perfect playdate!
My sweet Grayson waiting his turn to decorate his cup. Jen handed me the camera (big mistake... I always take 500 pictures) and I snapped away while our kids were having fun! Ms. Jen helping Presley and Grayson. LOVE this picture of Grace. Such a sweet, beautiful kid.
Grant had to put TWO noses on his grass person!
Waiting for the soil and the seeds.
All done! Now we just have to wait for the grass to grow... stay tuned for an update!

Austin Turns Two!

Our sweet little nephew turned two a few weeks ago. His mom and dad put together a super cute race car party with an adorable cake (wish I could show you the pictures... they got erased by his much older cousin). My boys had a great time! And we've loved watching this little baby grow into a sweet young boy! We love you, Austin!
Vroom, vroom!

Big Boy Bed

Grayson had a few weeks of cough and cold back in December and January. He had been sleeping perfectly until then. Whenever he gets sick, he HATES being in his crib. My easy sleeper all of a sudden becomes difficult (and difficult for Grayson is really nothing). This went on for a few weeks. After he was well, he still despised his crib. He would go to sleep ANYWHERE but the crib. So, we decided to try giving him a big boy bed... he loved it!
Testing out the big boy bed before naptime. We did pretty well for a few weeks. He'd get up maybe once a night, but I'd just put him back in bed. Then Grant got a real bad cough (which led to pneumonia) that kept Grayson up all night. Now, Grayson is a night wanderer... I never know where I am going to find him... On the floor of his brother's room. And do you know he doesn't just sneak into another room and lie down? It's a whole process. I've watched before and just laughed. He picks a spot, grabs his blanket, then spreads it out. Goes back to his room, picks another blanket. Goes back 5 or 6 more times to get a pillow or a doll. Lies down for a few seconds (must be thinking, "No, this isn't quite right."), then gets up again for some other random object before finally falling asleep. Next week, the boys will be sharing a room! We'll see what happens...

Artists in Training

A friend of mine blogged about her boys' personalized paintings the other day. I loved them! I had been looking for something to put on the walls in the boys' new room and this was the perfect idea (thanks, Katy)! Instead of doing the boys' full names, I decided to let them paint their monograms.
I printed out their initials and used a temporary adhesive to attach it to the canvas while they painted. Grant was just a little confused as to why it didn't spell "G-R-A-N-T," which reminded me that I needed to teach him about his middle and last names!
My silly kid posing with his painting. Quite a masterpiece! Grayson loves painting. However, he hates getting dirty. No finger painting in his future. Both my boys insisted on having paint brushes and lots of paper towels near by (just in case).
"Isn't beautiful, mom?"
Grayson only paints in horizontal lines. Anything else is where I held his hand and "helped" him. He was finished at this point. Thought it looked beautiful! However, it wasn't enough paint to make his initials, so I filled in the rest with some background color. I'll post a picture of it hanging on the walls next week.
In other news, we've been taking it a little easy for almost two weeks. Grant had high fever off and on for six days. After a couple trips to the doctor, we determined that he had two ear infections and pneumonia. My poor boy is on a SUPER good antibiotic and feeling much better!
